The Principle of mercy

The earthly kingdoms live by merit but the kingdom of God operates by the principle of mercy. We do not have a right to the mercy of God but we have a right to the justice of God. Mercy is an extension of justice to a person who can not satisfy the demands of justice. We must understand that Jehovah our God is a God who is merciful. He is so full of mercy that we have not even been able to comprehend a quarter of it. He has great mercy for us. His eternal nature is of mercy. He is not a God willing to punish. It is His great mercy that makes Him to be slow to anger. It is His mercy which makes us to think that He is not active and operative on earth. He pities us greatly. He remembers that our life is short and we are only dust.
Oh God is merciful! It does not matter what you did or how you feel, God is truly merciful and will forgive and cleanse you and on top of it all bless you as His own child. His love is expressed through the His mercy. He is so merciful. He is touched by the slightest cry of the small babies and orphans. He is so merciful. His mercy is so available to us that we just need to do three things and we shall benefit from His great mercy.

1. God gives His mercy to those who ask Him for it.

Luke 18 speaks of a tax collector who just asked for mercy and was instantly justified. He just said, God be merciful to me a sinner. GOD will never refuse to answer anybody who shall ask for mercy. Just Check and see for yourself and perceive the key in the miracles of Jesus. Many of the miracles of Jesus were based on mercy or were due to a call for mercy.

2. God will give mercy to any body that shows mercy to others.

He said blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy in Matthew 5:7. The person who was forgiven so much due to the mercy of the Master in Matthew 18 was later in trouble when he refused ton show mercy to others.

3. God shows mercy to those who do not take advantage of it so that they can play with His standard of holiness.

The lady in John 8 was forgiven by Jesus but was warned to stop the way of sin which she was following before.

Proverbs 28:13 says He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy”.

Mercy was the secret which great men like Abraham, Lot, Moses, Joseph, Jeremiah, David, Daniel, Paul, Peter and others depended on so that they were kept in humbleness and power. Heaven is full of mercy; that is  why we have a mercy seat in the holy of holies, and we approach the throne of grace so that we may obtain mercy (Hebrews 4:16). That is the way to approach the house of the Lord, in other words we approach in the multitude of His mercy. Psalms 5:7 says But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

(a). Mercy bring protection from evil men.

Psalms 56:1-2 says, Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me. 2 Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

(b). Mercy brings protection from calamities.

Psalms 57:1 says Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. Wow, no wonder people pray for journey mercies when they are travelling.

(c). Mercy bring deliverance.

Psalms 103:11 says, For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

Psalms 136:1-12 says O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. 2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. 3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever. 4 To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever. 5 To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever. 6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever. 7 To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever: 8 The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever: 9 The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever. 10 To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endureth for ever: 11 And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endureth for ever: 12 With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.

(d). We shall sing of the mercy of the Lord forever.

Psalms 89:1 says I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

(e). It brings joy.

Psalms 90:14 says O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

God is merciful but the devil is merciless.
